Completion of the new subterranean Alboraya – Peris Arago station marks the end of three years work to improve Line 3 of the Metro Valencia. The new underground reduces surface congestion, hassle and dangers for pedestrians and vehicular traffic.

The modern underground station, inaugurated in December 2010 features an entrance hall on the surface with large glass expanses providing an open space protected from inclement weather. The design allows natural light into the stairwells and underground spaces which is augmented by a well thought out lighting system to provide an airy and comfortable environment.

In order to build a modern station equipped with the latest technological innovations the architects in charge of the project, J. Pérez Igualada - D. Ayala – J. Martí were meticulous when writing the building specifications.

Building materiels for the project had to meet stringent requirements and Polyrey’s Reysipur was selected as a perfect solution for the high traffic public places such as the wall covering for the hall and platforms, as well as the skirting boards which protect the handrails of the escalators between each of the station floors. The products physical properties such as impact and scratch resistance together with its mechanical and hygienic properties were ideal for a project of this type.

Available in a wide range of colours and finishes, the architects finally decided on a single colour, Gris Orage G059 in an FA finish. Its deep but gentle grey was used to define the areas and enhance the feeling of space; it contrasted perfectly with the bright light coming from the surface hall above whilst maintaining the overall concept of the design, space and light.
