Alboraia metro station - Spain
In order to build a modern station equipped with the latest technological innovations available in the transport sector, the architects in charge of the project, J. Pérez Igualada, D. Ayala and J. Martí, were extremely rigorous when drawing up the specifications.
They carefully selected Polyrey's thick, self-supporting Reysipur high-pressure laminate (Compact HPL) to clad the walls in high-traffic areas such as the hall and platforms. This material was also chosen to cover the skirting boards protecting the handrails on the stairs leading to the station's various floors. High impact and scratch resistance, as well as excellent physical, mechanical and hygienic properties, were essential prerequisites for this project.
Initially tempted by the diversity of shades offered in Polyrey's "Compact" range of self-supporting laminates, the designers finally chose Gris Orage G059 in FA finish, characterized by a smooth, satin-finish surface. This soft, deep grey gives relief to the space, creating a clean contrast with the light.
It was also essential to revitalize the station's service areas, in particular the public toilets, which had to be built using hygienic, easy-to-maintain materials. Reysipur high-pressure laminate responded well to these needs, as it has a smooth, self-supporting surface, eliminating the need for supporting materials such as wood. This makes it ideal for spaces such as public washrooms.
