COUNTER CULTURE
Our responsibility: commit to making the world a cleaner place that is more respectful of the environment and people. To achieve this, we are committed to continuously improving our environmental approach, based on transparency for our clients and users.
Our solutions can be used in all contexts, from new construction to renovation, and in different types of buildings: commercial, collective housing, hospitals, etc.
SMARTER PRODUCTION
The choice of the raw materials used and the energy consumed contribute to more environmentally friendly production. The ISO management systems we have in put in place are proof of our strategy for continuous improvement.
USING RENEWABLE RESOURCES
All of our processes are designed to limit our environmental impact. For example, our HPL and Compact HPL are primarily composed of paper(65%). Our production sites are all PEFC™ and FSC® certified. Similarly, all of our products can be PEFC™ or FSC® certified on request (subject to the certification of our suppliers and availability of stock), guaranteeing that the wood and raw materials used come from sustainably and responsibly managed forests.
PRIORITISING RECYCLABLE PACKAGING
We have got rid of the plastic packaging sheets for our HPL and Compact HPL products, replacing them with a new form of packaging whose composition makes it easily recyclable. This has allowed us to drastically reduce our plastic consumption. This reduction represents the equivalent of 530,000 fewer plastic bottles consumed per year. Similarly, we have also minimised the packaging used to send samples by using new recyclable and reusable envelopes made from 70% recycled paper.
USING RECYCLED MATERIALS
In a desire to achieve more responsible production, we use 20% post-consumer recycled paper in the composition of our high pressure laminates (excluding fire retardant grade and large sizes).
WASTE RECOVERY
Our action to reduce our environmental impact concerns the entire product production cycle and includes the recovery of 100% of paper, cardboard and plastic waste. .
OPTIMISING OUR ENERGY CONSUMPTION
We are very attentive to our energy consumption. We regularly monitor consumption for over 70 different operations thanks to our CTM (Centralised Technical Management). By installing LED lighting, we have reduced our electricity consumption for lighting by 37%. We are also particularly attentive to reducing waste and losses and have fitted thermal insulation, dimmers and control systems. We systematically aim to reduce energy consumption when changing equipment. In addition, 30% of our energy is produced by our waste incinerator.
SUSTAINABILITY IN DAILY LIFE
Keenly aware of our daily impact, we take action every day at all levels of the company. For example, to keep printing to a minimum, 68% of our customers now receive paperless invoices.
BUILDING ON ISO MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
Polyrey is certified in ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment) and ISO 50001 (energy). These certifications guarantee our commitment to continuous improvement in achieving our quality, environmental and energy targets.
WORKING WITH LOCAL SUPPLIERS
We set up local partnerships to reduce our carbon footprint. For example, 80% of the pallets used for transport are supplied by a partner located just 12 km from our factory in Dordogne.
LIMITING IMPACT ON LOCAL COMMUNITY AND WILDLIFE
Polyrey has invested €1 million to reduce its VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) emissions by thermal oxidation. Our machines now use a closed-circuit cooling system which has allowed us to reduce the amount of water drawn from the surrounding environment by 98%. Our target for the end of 2022 is to save 1.3 million m3 of water. We have also invested in a noise-reduction solution that halves the level of noise,reducing it by 4db thanks to sound insulation walls and panels.

We limit the environmental impact of our products throughout their life cycle and integrate this aspect into their design.
USING CHEMICALLY INERT MATERIALS
We are particularly attentive to the composition of our products. They contain no chemicals from the candidate list of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) (Substances of Very High Concern) in concentrations greater than 0.1% of the mass. They comply with the REACH, BPR and Cradle to Grave lists of banned substances. This means that, our products contain no heavy metals, halogenated products (containing chlorine, fluorine or bromine), nickel, added urea formaldehyde, solvent-based inks or PAK/PAH (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from wood preservatives).
REINFORCING SURFACE HYGIENE
All our products benefi t from an antibacterial treatment. This treatment, used during our manufacturing process, is designed to limit the proliferation of bacteria throughout the product's lifespan thanks to a treatment based on an active biocidal substance: silver phosphoborate glass. Eff ective, reliable, and laboratory-tested, it acts sustainably and contains no nanoparticles. It is included as a standard feature, with no additional cost for our customers.
OPTIMISING AIR QUALITY
Improving the health of end users is at the heart of our approach. Our HPL and Compact HPL are Greenguard and Greenguard Gold certified, guaranteeing compliance with some of the world's most stringent standards in terms of indoor air emissions of chemicals and particles. Our panels are rated E1* (the highest classification according to the EN 16516 and EN 717-1 standards), which guarantees low formaldehyde emission. Lastly, our products are rated A/A+ (low possible VOC emissions) according to French health labelling. **Equivalent to the E05 commercial designation.
ASSESSING PRODUCT LIFE CYCLES
A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), is carried out and validated by an independent body, and used to produce an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for the majority of our products. The aim is to quantify the environmental impact generated at each phase in the product’s life cycle, from production to end of life, and establish a balance sheet. ((France: INIES database)
EXTENDING PRODUCT LIFESPAN
Our products have an average lifespan of 50 years. At the end of their lifespan, they can be reused through local initiatives.
PRODUCING PANELS IN LINE WITH BUILDING CERTIFICATIONS
Our products are all tailored to building certifications such as LEED, HQE, BREEAM, DGNB and WELL. To help guide our clients, we have created Building Environmental Data Sheets specific for HQE, BREEAM and LEED for new constructions and renovation projects, which summarise the advantages of our products and make it easier to download evidence documents.
POSITIVELY IMPACTING LOCAL EMPLOYMENT
Polyrey employs 650 people in its two plants in Baneuil in Dordogne and Ussel in Corrèze guaranteeing that most of its products are made in France. Some of our products are also made in our plants in the UK and Germany, contributing to the employment dynamic in Europe.

SMARTER WASTE MANAGEMENT
Waste management is a core concern that is anchored in an eco-friendly approach. We are committed to limiting our waste production and ensuring recycling and energy recovery.
REDUCING WASTE DURING INSTALLATION
The amount of off-cuts is optimised through panel sizes that are adapted to the final applications of your projects.
ENCOURAGING MATERIAL RECYCLING
According to the regulations of the European Waste Catalogue (EWC) (CED), our products are classified under code 200301 corresponding to mixed municipal waste, and can be disposed of as household or commercial waste. Our decorative panels can also be recycled through the chipboard industry.
ENABLING ENERGY RECOVERY
Because of their high calorific value, our products are particularly suitable for thermal recycling (subject to certain conditions). Their energy recovery values are 18-20 MJ/kg for HPL and Compact HPL, and 17 MJ/kg for Melamine Faced Board.
ANTICIPATING DISASSEMBLY
Our Compact HPL panels are designed to generate no additional waste during disassembly, especially when used for sanitary cubicles.

Le cycle de vie de nos produits est analysé par un organisme indépendant permettant la rédaction d’une fiche de déclaration environnementale et sanitaire (FDES) pour chacun de nos produits. Cette étude permet d’évaluer l’impact écologique de nos produits depuis leur production jusqu’à leur fin de vie.
