Securing the Critical Infrastructure Industry Supply Chain

Cooperation and coordination between private sector companies like building materials manufacturers and all levels of government is essential to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. A critical aspect of this is securing the supply chains of the critical infrastructure industries, which have been defined by the different national health organizations, and thereby called upon to continue doing their good work throughout these uncertain times. Enabling building products manufacturers to maintain continuity of operations and deliver a reliable and sustainable source of supplies and services for construction projects, including for residential housing, hospital and government buildings, is essential to preserving their resilience to
services interruptions, natural disasters and other adverse events that can put them—and our communities—at risk.

Manufacturing’s Commitment

Our workforce play an important role in supplying much-needed building materials and are committed to continuing to positively contribute to their communities. Employers should support the social-distancing and hygiene practices, as well as enact significant preventative measures to ensure employee safety. These include putting policies in place that allow non-essential employees to work from home, requiring and accommodating social distancing practices and mandating that any employee experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 stay home and follow measures to prevent spread and protect their health. This is a responsibility that employers should embrace as they remain steadfast in their commitment to providing essential services.
